Have I turned that Corner?
Do you know, I think I might have turned that corner. That gout attack was the kick up the butt I needed as well as a little epiphany I might have had. I’ve cut out the sugary drinks and chocolate and
ate healthy meals most of the time. Only had one takeaway this week and I swapped the chips for salad – I should have a halo above my head 😊. I committed to those 3 days of walking (1 of those was following the kids while they were on their bikes and scooters, but it still counts). My heart rate was raised on this one as my youngest had a major tantrum halfway home because he was
tired and couldn’t possibly do any more. I then had to carry him and his scooter for some of the way until I threw a tantrum, and we came to some agreement 😊. I’m also counting family time in the park throwing frisbees and chasing my 4-year-old as a win too.
I woke up yesterday morning and it was like something had
clicked. I had that mindset shift moment that I needed to help me move forward. It’s not about losing weight; it's about changing my mindset. Once the mindset changes, the weight will follow. We set big business goals but then break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks, so why do we not do this in our personal life?
Bitesize goals are so much easier to follow, and achievement comes quicker. I feel like a light has come on and I can finally see things more clearly. Smaller more manageable goals are the way forward. This week I am going to commit to 3 more walks and try to fit that swim in. I am going to commit to no sugary drinks and if the need for chocolate arises, I will go for 85%+ dark chocolate. I am going to commit to 10 minutes of just sitting, closing my eyes, and concentrating on my breathing each
day; I am going to visualise a healthier lifestyle where I make good choices more often than bad.
My mantra this week will be:
What will be yours?
